Sunday 14 June 2026, 1 PM. A conversation between eso malflor and Kajsa Dahlberg on photography, care, ecology and more-than-human relations.

In connection to the exhibition Together, Apart, Fotografiens Hus is pleased to invite you to a conversation between exhibitor eso malflor and artist Kajsa Dahlberg.

Starting from their respective artistic practices, the conversation will explore photography and image in relation to how we think about the body, nature, care, belonging, and our relationship to the more-than-human world. 

In her recent work, Kajsa Dahlberg has been investigating what role visual media has played in distinguishing between the human and nonhuman, a distinction that has often led to an understanding of film and photography as an optical extension of human vision. By practically and theoretically re-examining this notion, she explores how different mediums of moving images bears witness to material interdependencies and co-productions have the potential to converge human and non-human perspectives. 

“KROPP/BODY/CUERPO” av eso malflor

At Fotografiens Hus, eso malflor presents KROPP/BODY/CUERPO, a long-term photographic project created in Nevelsfjord, Northern Norway, where their paternal family has roots dating back to the nineteenth century. Inspired by Ana Mendieta’s Siluetas, malflor creates human-shaped forms from natural materials gathered in the surrounding landscape and returns year after year to photograph their gradual transformation and dissolution. 

The project emerged alongside the artist’s experience of losing their grandmother and became a reflection on grief, impermanence, and the cycles of decay and renewal that shape both human lives and the natural world. Through site-specific interventions and photography, KROPP/BODY/CUERPO highlights the interdependence between people and the environments they inhabit, inviting viewers to consider the body as inseparable from its ecological surroundings.
